This project was kind of an odd one but that’s my favorite kind of project really...
The client wanted to emulate an old-school / lo fi aesthetic, and play around with video glitching. In addition to a room full of plants and a giant toad, we also had to create a digital double of the viral violinist and match his movements while he plays.

Technically speaking, it was really interesting and challenging to texture, light and render with-in the viewport of Maya using Hardware Renderer 2.0, which is the basic default work area display engine. Dealing with texture size, anti-aliasing, shadow sampling and transparency were very difficult to deal with under those conditions. But it does have a cool look and it’s very fast to output of course. Almost no compositing in this piece, except for the datamoshing aspect.
