JAN 2023

RANDOM ACTS OF MINDFULNESS by NIKE | commercials

Starting off the new year with a set of 5 trippy 15s videos for Nike, showcasing 5 different talents and their respective specialties, in the world of fitness and self-care.

Partnering up with DLA Films, and working closely with director Nuotama Bodomo and the rest of the client’s creative team, we came up with these five tableaux blending live-action and CGI.

These loops are a representation of the inner journey happening with each performance.
With a very short turn-around and a small but mighty crew, we managed to deliver some amazing visuals and really capture the vibe the client was after.

It was a lot of fun coming up with all these differrent styles and effects and to try creating a cool little campaign as my first time working for the iconic brand.

I initially developed the vfx concepts and camera moves as previz in 3d so we could quickly get a sense of what we were after.
In addition I also prepared extensive mood boards and visual effects references to narrow down the design side of things in adequation with our budget.

Although a very short-windowed and challenging shoot, the crew managed to get very close to what we were looking for. Using a motion-controled camera rig (Bolt) enabled us to get extremely smooth motion and to keep the moves consistant between takes which was primordial in order to articulate a precise choreography around our talents.

For the mountain, Lauren Schramm, our ice bath specialist, was kind enough to let me do a quick 360 video of her face (right after she endured 15 minutes of freezing water and having a robot repeatingly racing full speed towards her...). That video helped me create a 3d model using neural radiance fields (NeRF) and then Antoine took that model into World Creator to do his magic.
