Music is Para One - SPECTRE: Shin Sekai MAY 2025 RAVAGE | titles design One of my favorite French Sci-Fi book growing up, I decided a long time ago that I would try at some point in my life to adapt this story to the screen. While I’m still waiting for the opportunity to arise, I created this animated sequence as a mean to manifest my wish into existence, and a good practice run for a new experimental workflow I had in mind to try.Using AI tools to help speeding up the process, this entire animation took about 4 days to be completed. Most of the look development and CG assets were already created when I joined the project because the team was already hard at work on crafting the 8K hero stills of the campaign...But as they were finishing that up, I got tasked with animating those static pieces. That included a bunch of fun stuff like some cloth FX to inflate the flower balloons, and a good bit of rigging to properly animate the plastic vegetation. I also was in charge of tackling a couple of unique shots with specific challenges, like a giant iridescent hand coming down from the sky or the dirt bursts of flowers blooming in the desert. In an amazing feat, our small but mighty team managed to slay about 80 vfx shots in 4 weeks. The entire video was shot on a stage-box covered with LED screens, and it was captured using a robotic camera control rig (Bolt X). Given the “music video” vibes we were aiming for, the ability to record the exact same camera mouvement multiple times with different setups was crucial to acheive the ‘jump-cut’ editorial effect. Like always, we started by gathering of bunch of references and inspiration for the motion graphic aspect of the piece, in order to help the directors figure out a design language. Nahuel did a bunch of amazing color and concept exploration while we were doing some animated tests in Maya and After Effects that Andrew would then be transposing into TouchDesigner. In addition to provide the previz and camera exploration required to plan such a complex shoot, our team worked on creating the graphic elements to play on the screen-walls. That particular process enabled us to get really cool dynamic lighting in camera that we couldn’t have had using a conventionnal greenscreen workflow.&nbsp; The MTC team in Paris then took over for the post production, augmenting the visuals and tightening things up all together. from Dassault, Najeeb Tarazi, our director, and Dan Marsh, our design director, to create a surreal dream world for our protagonist to discover. Following the script provided by the client, we tried to illustrate their vision and message, while keeping it all very much on-brand. After the shoot and the design phase, I had the chance to get an incredible team of artists to help craft the visual effects. Due to the large number of different shoes to showcase, we took a very modular approach to the cgi workflow. Additionnaly, a part of the collection was done in collaboration with the Bruce Lee Fondation, which gave us the opportunity to animate a dragon and to create variations based around a number of themes, including the ‘four elements’: Earth, Wind, Fire &amp; Water. I actually worked on this project twice.At first during the design phase, doing look developement and motion tests. And a second time, later in the production, at which point my focus was on the animation, FXs, lighting and compositing of all the different dragon variations.
